Mike great Job on Hosea here are some research to prove you are correct in some detail that the priesthood was corrupt.
The spirit of God was not even present in the Temple in those days(Five things were in the first Temple which were not in the second:–The ark and its cover, with the cherubim; the fire; the Shechinah; the Holy Spirit; and the Urim and Thummim.Yoma, fol. 21, col. 2.)
Jesus over turning the tables is another sign that the priesthood was corrupt,and the temple had to be destroyed because of the corrupt priesthood.Mat 21:12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
Mat 21:13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

When you start seeing this it really explains a lot more about whom the religious leaders of Jesus’ day really were.
